New Year New Beginning With God

That was my first sunday in this pulpit.

New year new beginning with god. At the beginning of a new year it is customary for us to think of this as a time of new beginnings a time for new resolutions. God knows we are fallen creatures needing new beginnings to right the things that we get wrong. Not only is tomorrow the beginning of a new week it s also a new day.

We know when our stomach growls it is a signal for us to nourish our body with food. God s word is the ultimate food for our thoughts nourishment for our souls and the map we must follow on our journey down the path of new beginnings. A prayer to keep god first this new year.

Second samuel 11 records a sad and sordid story in the life of david. Spiritual revival reestablishes the believer s highest priority our relationship with god. The fresh calendar year brings desperate hope for things to be better with an ache for healing and newness.

The good news i have for you at the beginning of the new year is that we serve a god of new beginnings. Because god is a god of new beginnings new days new months and new years. Dear god thank you that you make all things new.

A new year often provides new opportunities and new beginnings. God did begin a new thing in this congregation then and it has been wonderful to behold. A new beginning of obedience in our relationship with god is called revival and the essence of revival is a revitalized walk with god.

I talked about this with you three and a half years ago the first sunday in july 2000. This news is a major element of our christian faith to start fresh and have a new beginning with god. And like many of the biblical characters christians often need a new beginning of obedience with god.
